What I'm Interested In:
Eddie is a media relations specialist, reporter, writer and photographer.

Leimert Park Beat is one way for him to give back to the community while fulfilling a life-long dream of running a newspaper. He picked the Ning format because it allows the entire community to add their comments, photos and videos without oversight.

Eddie and his family moved to Leimert Park in 2003 upon buying their first home. They looked all over the Southland and seriously considered Eagle Rock and Highland Park, San Pedro and Lakewood, Inglewood and Culver City.

Within weeks neighbors reached out to Eddie and brought him into the Sutro Avenue Block Club, where he was elected chaplain, a post he still holds today.

For nearly 20 years, Eddie worked at daily newspapers. At 16, he started as a sports stringer before moving around the West working as a police reporter, music reviewer, government watchdog and food critic.

Now as a media representative for a large university, he works with the local and national media.

The Fast Food Ban Is Music to My Ears

I just can't think of a reason another fast food place would make Leimert Park or South Los Angeles a better place. I've read blog post after rant and whine - in no particular order - that says creating zoning regulations to control land use in a city is unAmerican and part of some nanny state that white liberals are try push on the poor minorities.… Continue

Oh, the comment regarding magnets, it just means we can't just stay in the same area, doing the same things over and over. We must be able to go to different areas of the city (and state, country, etc) and see what folks are doing there...get a new perspective on life!

Hello and thank you for the encouraging words! Hopefully Leimert Park will continue to be the urban jewel that it has been for decades and the Leimert Park Village will remain the jazz and cultural oasis I think we all here have come to love.

Of course I'd love for all to visit the new site:

And remember ... participate!
